Anderson, Indiana, in Madison county, is 34 miles NE of Indianapolis, Indiana. The city is part of the Indianapolis metropolitan statistical area.
According to historians, Anderson was either named after Chief William Anderson or Adam E. Anderson, who was a planner and architect who laid out and built the first two streets of the town. Anderson was incorporated in 1838 and as city in 1865.
