Blythe, California, in Riverside County, is 61 miles North of Yuma, Arizona (center to center) and 145 miles West of Phoenix, Arizona.
The city is located in the Riverside - San Bernardino metropolitan area.
The city of Blythe was named in the honor of Thomas Blythe who was instrumental in establishing primary water rights for the region on the Colorado River in 1877. This eventually led to the settlement of the valley and Blythe was incorporated in 1916.
