About the Jet Boat Ride

A Jet Boat doesn't have a Propeller. A Jet Boat is a boat Pushed by a Jet of Water ejected from the back of the craft.

Unlike a Powerboat or Motorboat that uses an external Propeller in the water below or behind the boat, a Jet Boat draws the water from under the boat through an intake and into a pump-jet inside the boat, before expelling it through a nozzle at the stern.

Jetboats were originally designed by Sir William Hamilton(who developed a waterjet in 1954)

Jet Drives have advantages over Sterndrive boats for example, Jet Drives are built into the hull, so a Jet Boat can run in shallower waters. There’s nothing extending beneath the running surface of the hull to catch seaweed or be damaged by rocks or other underwater obstructions.

At times along the way the Jet Boat is in very Shallow Water. As little as a Foot and a Half. Sometimes it scrapes the gravel hence the name "Gravel Gerty".

Starting in Laughlin, Nevada the six-hour, 116 mile round-trip excursion travels on the Colorado River through beautiful Topock Gorge, en route to the world-famous London Bridge in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. 2 hours down, 2 hours layover at the London Bridge, 2 hours back. In places the boat is traveling faster than 35 MPH.

Along the way witness some of the West’s most wondrous attractions during this scenic Laughlin tour. Only accessible by river, Topock Gorge features breathtaking views of Volcanic Rock Faces, Enchanting Emerald Waters, Ancient Indian Petroglyphs, along with a variety of Desert Wildlife.
